The New York Jets are talking to former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel. This meeting is about their head coach vacancy. It will happen at their facility on Friday.
Vrabel, 49, is a top name for this year’s hiring season. He is free now because his consulting contract with the Cleveland Browns ended on Monday. The Athletic was the first to report this news.
On Thursday, the Jets also interviewed another coach, Ron Rivera. Rivera used to coach the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders.
Who is Mike Vrabel?
Vrabel was the Titans’ head coach for six seasons. He had a 54-45 record during his time there. He led the team to the playoffs three times, with a 2-3 record in those games.
However, Vrabel was fired in January 2024 after two tough seasons. His record was 13-21 in those years. The Titans had also hired a new general manager before his departure.
Why Are the Jets Searching for a Coach?
The Jets fired their previous coach, Robert Saleh, in October. Saleh had a 20-36 record in over three seasons. The team is now being led by interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.
The Jets’ season has been disappointing, with a 4-12 record. They play their final game on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
What’s Next for the Jets?
The Jets are also looking for a new general manager. They have interviewed four candidates so far, including Thomas Dimitroff and Jon Robinson. They are working with The 33rd Team to find the best people for both roles.
Jets fans are eager to see who will lead the team next. Could it be Mike Vrabel?
